Org & Culture - Org & Culture

The Work Effects Trust & CapacityTM Model is centered on trust as the core driver to engagement, workforce capacity and stakeholder success. The model quickly identifies the root of workforce issues and focuses resources on the areas that produce the greatest benefit. It is divided into four building blocks necessary for organizational success regardless of industry, size or location. They are: organizational trust, individual trust, individual capacity and organizational capacity.

For Organizational Trust, the survey looks at how an organization sees itself and how it communicates its vision to all of its stakeholders. Does management have integrity? How strongly is it committed to its vision and values? Does it keep lines of communication open? Is it sensitive to the needs and desires of the communities in which it functions and does it take into account its employees’ well-being? All of these factors contribute to the level of trust that the organization has and through these efforts, helps strengthen the bond between the organization and its stakeholders, including employees.

Since no two organizations are alike, Work Effects provides each client the opportunity to select the most applicable factors (topics) within the Trust & Capacity Model. Based on extensive research, there are 112 different survey items that have been tested for relevance, actionability and observability. These items are organized into 28 factor groups based on statistical analysis and further sorted into the four categories we've noted above.

For example, under Organizational Trust, there are 7 building blocks: alignment, community involvement, fairness, leader effectiveness, organizational communications, strategic vision, and working conditions.

When constructing a Trust & Capacity survey, there should be between 10 and 16 categories that relate to an organization's objectives. For Organizational Capacity, the following factors are considered:

  1. Alignment – Shared objectives, links between employee efforts and organizational goals, the prevalence of trust amongst management, and consistency of direction

  2. Community Involvement – Company efforts/reputation for community outreach and reducing negative environmental impact

  3. Fairness – Environment of trust, sharing and honesty amongst employees and with senior management, and senior management's influence

  4. Leader Effectiveness – Senior management's integrity, leadership, performance and level of employee confidence

  5. Organizational Communications – Channels of interaction for employees to stay informed and provide input that gets used

  6. Strategic Vision – Commitment to the company's vision/values and belief in its future success

  7. Working Conditions – Emphasis on employees' well-being, work-life balance, workload and work environment

The other three areas: Organizational Capacity, Individual Trust and Individual Capacity are completed in a similar fashion. See our Knowledge Center for more information.
