Individual Capacity

Org & Culture - Org & Culture

The Work Effects Trust & CapacityTM Model is centered on trust as the core driver to engagement, workforce capacity and stakeholder success. The model quickly identifies the root of workforce issues and focuses resources on the areas that produce the greatest benefit. It is divided into four building blocks necessary for organizational success regardless of industry, size or location. They are: organizational trust, individual trust, individual capacity and organizational capacity.

For Individual Capacity, the survey looks at those aspects that make up the inherent traits of the individual and the opportunities that person has to be productive within an organization. Internal traits could be the motivation a person has, their dedication, the personal desire to improve, and their willingness to be a risk-taker. Their individual capacity is also dependent upon the organization’s ability to provide a career path, ongoing opportunities to gain skills through training, and the degree of freedom they allow an individual in accomplishing what the organization expects of them.

Since no two organizations are alike, Work Effects provides each client the opportunity to select the most applicable factors (topics) within the Trust & Capacity Model. Based on extensive research, there are 112 different survey items that have been tested for relevance, actionability and observability. These items are organized into 28 factor groups based on statistical analysis and further sorted into the four categories we've noted above.

For example, under Individual Capacity, there are 6 building blocks: individual effectiveness/personal capability, job satisfaction, learning and development, career growth, results orientation, and risk taking.

When constructing a Trust & Capacity survey, there should be between 10 and 16 categories that relate to an organization's objectives. For Organizational Capacity, the following factors are considered:

  1. Individual Effectiveness/Personal Capability – Degree of freedom, challenge and skill utilization at work; personal desire to innovate and improve

  2. Job Satisfaction – Pride/satisfaction in the work and job; propensity to recommend the company

  3. Learning and Development – Extent of learning resources, training and challenge offered for present success and future development

  4. Career Growth – Identification of a career path; opportunities to gain skills and experiences to move forward; and likelihood of leaving the company

  5. 5. Results Orientation – Employee/team dedication and accountability for results; level of resolve inspired by leaders

  6. 6. Risk Taking – Support for innovation, risk taking and learning from mistakes

The other three areas: Organizational Trust, Individual Capacity and Organizational Capacity are completed in a similar fashion. See our Knowledge Center for more information.
