Individual Trust

Org & Culture - Org & Culture

The Work Effects Trust & CapacityTM Model is centered on trust as the core driver to engagement, workforce capacity and stakeholder success. The model quickly identifies the root of workforce issues and focuses resources on the areas that produce the greatest benefit. It is divided into four building blocks necessary for organizational success regardless of industry, size or location. They are: organizational trust, individual trust, individual capacity and organizational capacity.

For Individual Trust, the survey looks at the trust level that an organization has through the eyes of the individual. It is how conflicts are resolved, the treatment of employees, communication, recognition of accomplishments, how talent is managed and what are the organization’s expectations. For the individual to have trust, they must have confidence in the organization doing the things it says it will do, how it communicates with employees, the regard they have for their employees, what kind of feedback employees are given and does the organization “drink its own Koolaid”.

Since no two organizations are alike, Work Effects provides each client the opportunity to select the most applicable factors (topics) within the Trust & Capacity Model. Based on extensive research, there are 112 different survey items that have been tested for relevance, actionability and observability. These items are organized into 28 factor groups based on statistical analysis and further sorted into the four categories we've noted above.

For example, under Individual Trust, there are 8 building blocks: conflict resolution, dignity & respects, ethics, individual communications, manager effectiveness, performance culture, resources & tools, and rewards & recognition.

When constructing a Trust & Capacity survey, there should be between 10 and 16 categories that relate to an organization's objectives. For Organizational Capacity, the following factors are considered:

  1. Conflict Resolution – Speed, openness and willingness of employees, managers and work groups in resolving conflicts

  2. Dignity & Respect – Company-wide treatment of employees, and employees' regard for managers/senior leadership

  3. Ethics – Consistency of works and actions throughout the organization; advocacy for doing what is right

  4. Individual Communications – Value placed on openness, employee input and availability of essential information

  5. Manager Effectiveness – Employee-manager relationships; management of talent; managers' knowledge, dedication and support for others

  6. Performance Culture – Effectiveness of performance management; expectations, direction, feedback, and appraisals

  7. Resources & Tools – Investment/availability of the right people, tools, information, technology, etc. to be successful

  8. Rewards & Recognition – Appreciation and reward efforts targeted at the right individuals; the link between performance and compensation

The other three areas: Organizational Trust, Individual Capacity and Organizational Capacity are completed in a similar fashion. See our Knowledge Center for more information.
